Get Involved!

You can get involved with the Maine Lighthouse Museum in several ways by Volunteering, Donating and by Becoming a Member of the Maine Lighthouse Museum TODAY! Your support is vital to helping the museum conserve the largest collection of lighthouse lenses and historic artifacts in America and becoming a part of this amazing legacy.

VOLUNTEER

The Maine Lighthouse Museum relies heavily on volunteers that help out in different capacities throughout the year. Please call or visit the museum to learn about the variety of fun and interesting opportunities offered. If you have one day a week, or even one day a month, we would love to speak with you about how you can help become an integral part of this very special museum. No prior experience or knowledge of lighthouses is necessary. We are simply looking for people who are excited to learn, to teach, and to help "keep the lights burning" at one of Rockland's greatest cultural treasures.
Maine has a proud tradition of neighbor helping neighbor, and today this volunteer spirit is needed more than ever before. "We are so grateful for the volunteers that have returned to us each year, and we are hoping to expand that foundation." said Julia Friese, Visitor Services Manager at the Maine Lighthouse Museum. "It is hugely rewarding to share the rich and important heritage of these icons. I am so thrilled to hear visitors exclaiming, at the end of their museum tour, that they had no idea how much they really loved lighthouses. The visitors often attribute much of their newfound enthusiasm to the volunteers they speak with."

PLEDGING

We are graciously asking that businesses and individuals consider making a pledge of support to the museum. A pledge may be a one-time gift, or the gift can be scheduled to be paid out over a period of time. Informational packets are available to interested organizations and people who would like to gain a more in-depth understanding of the hard work and achievements that have occurred at MLM. We truly are "America's Lighthouse Destination," and we need the financial support of many, both locally and nationally, to remain the caretakers of the largest and most significant public collection of lighthouse artifacts in the United States. A pledge form can be downloaded on this site, and Dot Black, Interim Director, would be happy to answer any questions regarding how your contributed funds will be put to work. As a non-profit, any and all contributions to the Maine Lighthouse Museum are tax-deductible charitable contributions.
